Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Mix well to coat the apples evenly.
- Roll out one pie crust and place it in a pie dish. Fill it with the apple mixture and dot with butter for extra richness.
- Cover with the second pie crust, crimping the edges to seal the contents inside. Be sure to cut slits in the top crust to let the steam escape.
Baking
- Bake it for 15 minutes in the preheated oven.
- Reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, or until the apples are soft and the crust turns a lovely golden brown.
Cooling
- Allow the pie to cool before serving.
Notes
Serve with vanilla ice cream or caramel sauce. Store leftovers in the refrigerator or freeze slices for up to three months.
