Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 6 to 8 apples apples, peeled, cored, and sliced Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for best flavor.
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces For dotting on the apple mixture.
Crust
  • 2 pie crusts pie crusts (store-bought or homemade)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Mix well to coat the apples evenly.
  3. Roll out one pie crust and place it in a pie dish. Fill it with the apple mixture and dot with butter for extra richness.
  4. Cover with the second pie crust, crimping the edges to seal the contents inside. Be sure to cut slits in the top crust to let the steam escape.
Baking
  1. Bake it for 15 minutes in the preheated oven.
  2. Reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, or until the apples are soft and the crust turns a lovely golden brown.
Cooling
  1. Allow the pie to cool before serving.

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream or caramel sauce. Store leftovers in the refrigerator or freeze slices for up to three months.
