Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
- In one bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing in the vanilla afterward.
- Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with the milk until combined.
- Fill each cupcake liner halfway with the batter, place a spoonful of apple compote in the center, and top with more batter until three-quarters full.
- Bake the cupcakes for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow them to cool completely.
Frosting
- While the cupcakes cool, prepare the frosting by beating the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth, then mix in the cinnamon.
Serving
- Once cooled, pipe or spread the cinnamon cream cheese frosting generously on top of the cupcakes. Enjoy!
Notes
Serve with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar, vanilla ice cream, or caramel sauce. Experiment with different apple types for unique flavor. Involve kids in the frosting stage for a fun activity.
