Ingredients

For the dog treats
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree Make sure to use pure pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling.
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter Ensure it doesn't contain xylitol, which is toxic to dogs.
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour Can be substituted with a gluten-free option if necessary.
  • 1/4 cup oats Provides fiber and texture.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the pumpkin puree and peanut butter until smooth.
  3. Gradually mix in the whole wheat flour and oats until a dough forms.
  4. Roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness on a floured surface and cut into your desired shapes.
  5. Place your treats on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
  7. Allow the treats to cool completely before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for several months. Label the container with the date for tracking freshness. For best results, ensure the peanut butter is free from xylitol and adjust flour if the dough is too sticky or dry.
