Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans with flour.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. If you're feeling indulgent, fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
Baking
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
