Ingredients

Tofu and Sauce Ingredients
  • 14 oz firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 2 tbsp olive oil for frying
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, minced
  • 1 tsp cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs (such as cilantro or basil) for garnish

Method

Cooking
  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add cubed tofu and cook until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 10 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, combine coconut milk, soy sauce, garlic, and ginger; stir well.
  4. Pour the sauce mixture over the crispy tofu in the skillet.
  5. If desired, add cornstarch to thicken the sauce.
  6. Simmer for about 5-7 minutes until the sauce is heated through and slightly thickened.
  7. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  8. Serve over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread, and garnish with fresh herbs.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop. For longer storage, consider freezing, but note that the texture of the tofu may change once thawed. Optional: Marinate the tofu before cooking for enhanced flavor.
