Preparation
- Begin by creaming the softened butter and peanut butter together in a mixing bowl until smooth.
- Slowly incorporate the powdered sugar, adding it in ½ cup increments until the mixture is well combined and no longer sticky.
- Add the orange food coloring gradually. Mix until you achieve a uniform color.
- Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes to make it easier to handle.
Rolling and Chilling
- Once chilled, use your hands to roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Use a toothpick to gently press into the sides of each ball, creating 4-5 indentations.
- Place a mini chocolate chip on top of each ball, with the pointed side facing up.
- Refrigerate for an additional 15 minutes, or until you’re ready to serve.
Notes
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. They can last for about a week. For longer storage, consider freezing them.
