For the Batter

  • 1 large egg For vegan option, use flax egg.
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted Browned butter can enhance flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For added flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the blackberries with the sugar and let them sit for 10-15 minutes to release their juices.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and the egg. Add the melted butter and vanilla, whisking until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter over the sugared blackberries and stir gently just to combine.
  5. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and smooth the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden and bubbling.
  2. For extra crunch, place in an air fryer at 350°F for 3-5 minutes.
  3. Let cool for 10-15 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. For added texture, top with chopped nuts or serve with mascarpone. Refrigerate leftovers for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
