Ingredients
  

For the Calzones
  • 1 package Store-bought pizza dough Can be gluten-free if needed.
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoni
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce For dipping.
  • 1 large egg For egg wash.
  • to taste Italian seasoning Optional.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface into a large circle.
  3. On one half of the dough, layer mozzarella cheese and pepperoni.
  4. Add a spoonful of marinara sauce on top of the cheese and pepperoni.
  5. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning if desired.
  6. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and press the edges to seal.
  7. Brush the top with beaten egg to give it a golden color.
  8. Place the calzone on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking
  1. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving with additional marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

Pair with a fresh salad or crispy garlic bread. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days in the fridge or freeze for up to three months. Reheat in the oven for best results.
