  • 1 cup pumpkin puree Ensure it's pure and without preservatives.
  • 1/2 cup blueberries Fresh blueberries are preferred, but frozen can be used.
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour Can substitute with almond or coconut flour for grain-free.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Optional: experiment with ginger or nutmeg.
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter Use natural peanut butter without added sugars.
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce Can be substituted with mashed banana.
  • 1 piece egg

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, blueberries, peanut butter, applesauce, and egg. Mix well until fully combined.
  3. Gradually add the whole wheat flour and cinnamon, mixing until a dough forms.
  4. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness and cut it into your desired shapes.
  5. Place the shaped dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the treats are firm.
  7. Allow them to cool completely before serving to your dog.

Notes

Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. For longer storage, you may freeze them for up to three months, letting them thaw at room temperature before serving. Adjust sweetness with honey or maple syrup if desired, but consult with a vet first.
