Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup pure pumpkin puree
  • 2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter Use almond butter if allergic to peanuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup water Add as needed to form dough

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the pumpkin puree, peanut butter, egg, and spices until well combined.
  3. Gradually add the whole wheat flour, mixing until a dough forms. If the dough becomes too dry, add water a tablespoon at a time until it holds together.
  4. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  5. Use cookie cutters to cut the dough into shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Bake for 20-25 minutes until they turn golden brown.
  7. Allow the treats to cool before serving them to your dog.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or freeze for several months. You can use different cookie cutter shapes for variety.
