  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup water or almond milk for substitution
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
Cream Cheese Filling
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened ensure it's at room temperature for easy mixing
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup strawberries, chopped fresh strawberries recommended
Optional Toppings
  • 1/2 cup coconut flakes optional
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts optional

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs until smooth.
  3. Pour half of the cake batter into the prepared dish.
  4. In another bowl, combine softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth. Stir in the chopped strawberries.
  5. Spoon the cream cheese and strawberry mixture over the cake batter in the dish.
  6. Carefully pour the remaining cake batter on top.
  7. If you want extra flavor, sprinkle the coconut flakes and chopped nuts over the top.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Serving
  1. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Top each slice with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3-4 days. For longer storage, freeze individual slices wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and thaw in the fridge before serving.
