Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup shredded white cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular; gluten-free if needed)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil, for cooking
  • 4 pieces burger buns
Optional Toppings
  • lettuce
  • tomato slices
  • extra cheese
  • pickles
  • aioli

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, add the ground chicken, chopped spinach, shredded cheddar, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and a pinch of salt and pepper.
  2. Gently mix with your hands or a spoon until everything is evenly combined; avoid overworking the meat.
  3. Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each into a patty about 3/4-inch thick. Press a slight dimple in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.
Cooking
  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little olive oil to coat the pan.
  2. Cook the patties 5–6 minutes per side, until they’re golden brown and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  3. Transfer cooked patties to a plate and let them rest for 3–5 minutes to redistribute juices.
  4. Assemble burgers on buns with your chosen toppings and serve immediately.

Notes

Use ground turkey if you prefer, or mix in a beaten egg for firmer patties. For a lower-sodium version, omit the Worcestershire and reduce added salt.
